Tom joined Smarty Pants as an Insights Prodigy in August of 2021. His role entails survey development, data analysis and reporting of quantitative research findings for the company’s leading food & beverage, retail, and toy & game clients. From ensuring data integrity to finessing end deliverables, Tom applies his passion for market research and client service to every project.
Tom is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in marketing and a concentration in professional selling while being on the dean’s list and obtaining Dale Carnegie and MTSU IGNITE certifications in leadership and professional development. He also served as president of the university’s DECA club, a student organization that prepares leaders for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.
After completing his degree, Tom served as a market research intern at Music Row 411, a singer/songwriter marketing agency. He co-created a game-changing global survey to uncover insights into what drives musicians and a foundational analysis of the e-gaming industry that assisted company leaders in the creation of new products.
Most recently, Tom served as a project interviewer for Nashville-based Schlesinger Group. As a key support person for a national clinical study, he interviewed and tested participants on their cognition, memory, motor skills, critical thinking and judgment.
As a next step in his professional development, Tom hopes to pursue a master’s degree in market research in coming years.
Raised in Connecticut, Tom now lives in the suburbs of Nashville, TN. He’s a Miami Dolphins superfan, movie fanatic and superhero nerd. And did we mention bread baker, international cook and wine connoisseur?
