Jill has over 15 years of experience in consumer research
and brand strategy. She has spent countless hours in the field as a moderator
and ethnographer, with a focus on cultural understanding of kids and families.

Based in Europe, Jill oversees much of Smarty Pants’ European qualitative research. With her background in cultural anthropology, she has a knack for immersing herself in other cultures. Her research with kids has taken her everywhere from German Kindergartens, to Belgian Zoos, to Swedish rock quarries. Jill’s international experience also includes managing a global network of young urbanites across seven countries, tracking trends in social media, consumer behavior, and generational attitudes for Draft FCB, London.
Prior to joining Smarty Pants, Jill was Chief Strategy Officer at UPROAR New York, where she headed the Strategic Planning team and was lead Planner for Hasbro. She is a workshop wunderkind, and has led hundreds of insight-driven creative, ideation, and innovation workshops. Jill has worked with leading brands across varied industries, including, Kraft Foods, Electronic Arts, LEGO, Target, AT&T and MTV.
A former instructor at Miami Ad School’s Planner Boot Camp and a teacher at heart, Jill has taught thousands of students in her previous teaching career—everyone from Georgia Tech engineers to 5th grade poets.
She holds a PhD in Cultural Studies from the University at Buffalo and a BA in Literature from the University of California, San Diego. She is also a RIVA-trained moderator. Jill currently lives in Prague, Czech Republic, with her husband and two teenage daughters.
