Fresh off the quad at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Amberly took one look at Smarty Pants and knew it was the perfect place to land. She was excited to apply her Bachelor of Arts in English and Communication to research that makes a real difference, and Smarty Pants was thrilled to leverage her passions and talents.
As an Insights Prodigy, Amberly assists with all aspects of Smarty Pants’ research initiatives. She designs impeccable proposals, fields remote and in-person research, analyzes data, and co-creates insights-rich reports and videos that help clients connect with consumers. Her work spans traditional and new methods – from focus groups, IDIs, surveys, and online communities, to creative segmentation studies and innovative mixed-methods approaches that tap new technologies.
Amberly is also a member of the Smarty Pants’ IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Academy). She plays an instrumental role in educating colleagues on issues related to diversity and elevating our research practices to be more inclusive and empathy-driven. She has a keen understanding of accessibility and LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities, and she works to promote social justice and equity in all forms.
Prior to joining the Smarty Pants team, Amberly completed an internship in User Experience Research with Envestnet, a fintech company. The internship introduced Amberly to the world of market research, teaching her how to apply her natural intuition to writing and analyzing surveys, crafting usability test scripts, and producing powerful deliverables for end-clients.
Graduating magna cum laude from UMass Amherst, Amberly also earned the title of Commonwealth Honors College Scholar with Greatest Distinction for a senior thesis on Asian American representation in Netflix Original Programming. The thesis was published in February 2021 by Xchanges, an undergraduate research journal that specializes in rhetoric studies.
Amberly currently lives in Boston, MA, with her family.
