  • Lana has spent the last eight years eating, sleeping and breathing the business of the children’s entertainment and knows what shows, games, apps and toys kids around the globe are choosing and why.
  • Currently works as a key strategic advisor on the Smarty Pants team for all aspects of children's media and consumer products licensing.
  • She also travels the globe, attending and speaking at international trade shows and conferences to get a read on the kids media trends to watch and identifying projects and properties that are likely to fizzle.
  • Currently spearheads content development for the leading business to business magazine in the global children’s entertainment industry across multiple platforms.
  • Works as a team leader to plan, program and execute an annual conference that draws 1,600 top-level executives from more than 44 countries.
  • Maintains and continuously augments a wide-ranging global network of key industry and media contacts at organizations that include Disney, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network, not to mention key international content producers and distributors.
  • Has served as a judge evaluating entries for several international kids' content competitions like MIP Junior Kids' Jury Awards and the Kidscreen Awards.
  • Holds a Bachelor's and Master’s Degree in History and Political Science from McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada.

  • Has a seven-year-old niece and twin four-year-old nephews who she secretly uses as a test audience to evaluate new kids TV series in development.
  • Nurses a longstanding desire to learn Italian and move to Italy, if only to be assured of easy access to fresh mozzarella di bufala and 24-month aged prosciutto.
  • Is something of an armchair decorator who devours copies of Elle Décor and can’t stop watching Selling New York and any other voyeuristic series that passes as real estate television.
  • Has been known to refinish furniture, going as far as to have a 7-foot-long mid-century modern dresser she purchased on eBay shipped from Florida to her home in Toronto.
  • Cannot keep any plant alive in her apartment and blames its resident chlorophyll fiend, also known as her 11-year-old cat, Lloyd, as the reason.
  • Has met both Oscar the Grouch and Arnold Schwarzenegger and was clearly more star-struck by Oscar.
  • Unwillingly confesses to having read all four Twilight books over a five-day period—has no problem admitting she’s Team Edward.
